AN INCIDENT of University Innovative School students consuming alcohol was reported today. Devi Ahilya Viswha Vidyalaya acting V-C Dr Rajkamal said that he was informed over phone by one Kaushal that students had come in an inebriated state.
Later, their parents were called up and an unruly scene prevailed on the school premises. The V-C immediately asked the principal to file a report in this matter.
However, the principal said that actually the students were not drinking alcohol; their water bottles closely resembled a liquor bottle thus creating an impression that they were drinking. The V-C said that some electronic media channels had told him that the incident was more of a clash between two groups of students and less of drinking.
According to sources, seven students were consuming alcohol in the classroom during the lunch break and were noticed by some other students who informed the teacher on duty. Later, the parents of those involved in drinking on school premises were called.
However, the school administration is already facing flak as during one of the surprise inspections recently conducted by the V-C, the V-C had found three teachers and three lower level staff guilty and issued them notices for dereliction of duty.

{{/usCountry}}Dr Rajkamal has constituted a committee for examining the merit of the case. The single-member committee will be headed by Education Head of Department (HoD) Dr DN Sansanwal. A time limit of three days has been given for submitting the report.
