The Website which was formally launched recently by the students as a tribute and a gift to their department received a huge response from the alumni of SMS who started registering themselves on the website from every nook and corner of the world within nine hours of the site going on-line.

"The need of such a website was being felt by the students as many a alumni of SMS who are at the helm of the affairs of various big companies expressed desire to have a site which facilitates communication between the passouts and the current students," informed administrator of the website and an MBA third semester student of SMS, Salil Dixit.

He said that a combined team of MBA first and second year students including Amit Mishra, Anshuman, Gaurav Singh, Pradipto Chatterjee, Mohit Mohan Tiwari and Garima Singh worked day and night for designing the layout, assembling the information and procuring the requisite server and space to help the site go on-line.

The site has various interesting links like Institute Profile, Programme, Infrastructure, Faculty, Life at MNNIT, Placements and Picture Gallery. "A link 'Swastik' takes a visitor to a page dedicated to co-curricular activities like inter-students' symposium, group discussions and social work being undertaken by the students under the banner of Swastik, a students' society of SMS," said Amit Mishra, another student who played a key role in making the site a reality.
The website works on Advanced Server Protocol (ASP) platform and has a provision of live Webcasting besides Webcast recordings of recent activities available on the site that can be viewed by a visitor.

A number of faculty members of SMS like Dr Tanuj Nandan and GP Sahu too helped students in improving the Website.

Throwing light over the importance of website, Dr Nandan said that alumni are an asset for any institute as they act as resource persons for the placement and other developmental activities of institutions concerned.

"This Website hopefully will work as interface between students and alumni and will fetch better avenues for the budding manager," said Dr. Nandan.
