DDU GORAKHPUR university remained closed on the 5th consecutive day after the abrupt postponement of students’ union election. After the success of the Gorakhpur bandh, student leaders have decided to take out a protest peace procession on December 14.

However this decision seems to have split the student leaders and union into two parts with one wanting a peaceful protest while the other group is all for agitation on a mass scale.
Hence a group of student leaders staged a dharna at V-C’s office on Wednesday while the other group observed a day-long fast at Townhall crossing.
Launching his offensive against the V-C Prof Arun Kumar’s insensitive attitude, president of the outgoing student union leader Rajiv Pandey said that Kumar’s dilly dallying tactics and deep rooted conspiracy in postponing the elections is clearly understood by the students who will not take this decision lying down.
Student leaders demanded the announcement of fresh date for the election and reiterated to continue their agitation in a democratic way. Shrikant Mishra, Kaushal Tripathi, Rajkumar Rai, Akhilesh Dubey, Ramesh Chand Pathak and others said that they would continue their protest peacefully. At the same time the other group of students leaders led by Vishwajeet Singh, Vinay Kumar Singh, Ratanpal Singh and others staged a dharna at V-C office and said that it would continue for three days.
They have decided to organise a huge rally on December 18 at the V-C’s residence for announcement of fresh date for students’ union election.
