Despite several checks and measures, rowdy student leaders sneaked into the campus and created a ruckus.

The only consolation for LU administration was that senior teachers put up some resistance and opposed their action. Some of the lady teachers even tried to stop several unruly elements from entering the campus at the gate.

According to officials, teaching continued at a few places wherein LU administration could provide some security. The rowdy elements stormed the campus around 9:15 am and forced the closure of Cashier office and office of dean Arts. Then they disrupted history class that was taking place at room number 5 adjacent to Proctor’s Office. Physics Department was their next target where student leaders threatened to ransack laboratories. Irate leaders forced the closure of the classes there as well.

Soon proctorial team reached there and directed teachers to take their classes.

In the evening, LU V-C held a meeting with deans and heads of various departments to take a stock of the situation. It was decided that senior teachers would again be posted on duty at various gates to ensure that only bonafide students gets entry inside the campus. He also exhorted teachers to remain united in this fight against rowdy elements. LU V-C is committed to hold student union elections as per SC interim order.

Sadly, when senior teachers were putting up some resistance, proctorial team did not come out in open to shoo the student leaders away. They simply let student leaders to do their usual business and held meeting with district administration official to chalk out strategies. One of the proctorial members told this newspaper that proctor and others were busy in seeking appointment for district magistrate so that probable dates for the student union elections could be decided.
