STUDENT UNION secretary Hareshyam Singh Shrinetra criticised university authorities directing the students to open accounts in the university branch of the Allahabad so that their scholarship could be directly transferred in the account.

He said this would only create problems for the students and demanded that the university authorities should provide the scholarship cheques directly to the students. Meanwhile, on Wednesday huge rush was witnessed at the administrative block office at the university to open the account. Student union leader Sharvan Kumar Nirala expressed apprehension that the new system would promote financial irregularities. He said students were facing problem as the account could be opened only on depositing Rs 500. Nirala further said that the beneficiaries of unemployment allowances were also facing problem in depositing their cheques as banks officials had rejected several cheques after expiry date.
It is to be noted that the validity of unemployment allowance cheques is one month. The cheques issued on September 5 would expire on October 5.
