STUDENTS OF Ewing Christian College (ECC) created ruckus on the campus after the condition of two students, including the students union’s general secretary, sitting on fast-unto-death for the past two days, deteriorated suddenly on Saturday.

The students took out a procession shouting anti-college administration slogans and also tried to gherao the principal and stage a road blockade. The situation was brought under control after deployment of a large number of policemen on the campus.
Trouble started when the college principal agreed to hold talks with the agitating students and discuss their 16-point charter of demands but asked the students sitting on fast- unto-death to get admitted to hospital. This led to an argument and the angry students started the demonstration.
Later, the agitation was called off after talks between the college administration and the students following intervention of the district administration.
ECC principal Dr Mervin Massey informed that half of the students’ demands had been accepted and that the protest had been called off by the students.
