The student leaders said they were fed up with empty promises of the university authorities to increase the numbers of seats in the evening classes.

They said despite repeated reminders, the administration was dilly dallying, generating resentment among the students.

Prof Arun Kumar assured the students that their demands would be considered sympathetically. President of students’ union Rajiv Pandey said the university administration was yet to start the process of allotment of rooms in Alaknanda Hostel even though classes were about to begin. Vice-president Chetna Pandey said the clerks were charging extra fee in the name of allotment of hostels, which should be stopped.
