Students want implementation of Lyngdoh panel recommendations

STUDENTS OF several academic institutions staged a dharna and demanded immediate implementation of Lyngdoh Committee recommendations for students? union elections in Uttar Pradesh. The students of various political outfits staged a dharna under the banner of Sanyukt Kshatra Sangharsh Morcha and also demanded dismissal of Samajwadi Party government allegedly for criminalisation of student politics.

STUDENTS OF several academic institutions staged a dharna and demanded immediate implementation of Lyngdoh Committee recommendations for students’ union elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The students of various political outfits staged a dharna under the banner of Sanyukt Kshatra Sangharsh Morcha and also demanded dismissal of Samajwadi Party government allegedly for criminalisation of student politics. The student leaders also demanded imposition of President’s rule in UP.

The students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV), Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, UP College, Harishchandra Degree College and other institutions demanded that Lyngdoh Committee recommendation be implemented in the State with immediate effect.

The student leaders opined that political symbols must not be used in students’ union elections. The students also denounced the State government for poor law and order scenario and alleged that the criminal activities were flourishing under the flagship of Samajwadi Party.

They said that the dignity of students union was at stake under the rule of Samajwadi Party in UP.

Student leaders including president of students’ union at MGKV, Satyendra Singh, president of students union at SSU, Ramakant Pandey, president of students union at UP College, Manish Singh, Awadhesh Dixit of BHU and Shailendra Singh of Harishchandra Degree College demanded that the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations should be implemented in the state.

The students have also forwarded the evidences of police high-handedness in the clash to President of India and Governor of Uttar Pradesh. The demonstrators alleged that Samajwadi Party government was encouraging criminal activities.

Prominent among others who addressed the dharna and demanded implementation of Lyngdoh Committee recommendations in the state included, Vishwanath Kumar, Raj Kumar Singh, Rewati Raman Tripathi, Girja Shanker Chaubey.
