The last two days of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week compensated for any steam missing on previous days. There was marked rise in the celeb quotient with Urmila Matondkar, Sameera Reddy and Sanjay Suri walking the ramp for starters and bollywood love-birds Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur wrapping up the style fest with élan. Here’s the list of ramp scorchers over the weekend.

Meera and Muzzafar Ali
Inspired by smooth movements of the urdu calligraphy, Khattati, designers Meera and Muzzafar Ali dedicated their collection to it. Drawing bold, smooth strokes of the script into embroidery and accessories, they used mostly a blank black or beige canvass of fabric in their collection. Complete with the ancient kalamkari prints on kurtas, salwar kameez and sarees, the collection was a superhit.
Showstopper: The shararas. Teamed with short embroidered kurtis with a brown belt thrown over for a very urban chic look.

Rajesh Pratap Singh
A little retro with a heady mix of modern, that’s Rajesh Pratap’s latest collection! While most of the radiantly coloured pieces carried a clear hint of the 50’s, the silhouettes still remained modern, if not futuristic. Using as colour palette of yellow, orange, green and white with a glint of silver in between, the designer successfully showcased his fetish for detailing. Every single piece stood out on the ramp for its clean cuts and intrinsic details.
Showstopper: The last two gowns in bright red complete with voile flowers and an impressive trail, had the audience asking for more.

Suneet Varma
Taking the audience to a trip to the jungles of Africa, Suneet Varma’s Africana, proved to be a digital delight. The collection scored high on detailing with appliqué, crochet work, tie and dye, African ‘tanka’ and ‘ari’ embroidery and the digital prints on stretch fabrics. He made quite a statement with his safari jackets and wrap dresses teamed with churidars.
Showstopper: The African colours and prints on European silhouettes called for accolades. Also worth mentioning was the tie and dye African ring embroidered saree in red and deep brown combination, complete with white embroidery and mirror work at the borders.

Manish Malhotra
The grand finale was definitely something. Sensuality proved to live up to all the expectations and served as a fitting finale of the fashion event. Drawn on a backdrop of beige and off-whites, the collection saw large, distinct floral prints throughout. The palette ranged from cherry red and oranges to dull gold.
Showstopper: Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur’s walk down the ramp was the showstopping moment not only for the designer but also for the entire Week.
