The mother-daughter pair will be seen together in Aparna Sen’s first Hindi venture — Jewellery Box soon. But, Soha’s not worried about comparisons.

“It’s my birth right. When people of a family are working together then comparisons are natural. People compared my role in Rituparno Ghosh’s Antarmahal with mom’s role in Satyajit Ray’s Devi. This protagonist I played was a chhoti bahu with sindoor, bindi and traditional attire which was appeared similar to mom’s role,” she told HT Lucknow Live. Soha was on her first visit to city for Brooke Bond’s campaign Ek Sehatwali Subah at Kasturba Park in Cantt.

But, acting with mom with will certainly be challenging for Soha! She explains, “I have a double role in the movie. I play a young girl and that character becomes mom (role of Sharmila). I also play the granddaughter of the same character!” The movie also stars Konkana Sen Sharma while Govinda plays the lead. After getting good reviews for Antarmahal, Soha will be starring in the English film Postcard by an LA-based director, Rajshree Ojha. Also starring with her will be Victor Banerjee, Roopa Ganguly and Keira Chaplin (granddaughter of legendary comedian Charlie Chaplin.

Soha is very comfortable working in Bengali films too. “The Bengali film industry has greater focus on the female protagonist. When we talk about the Mumbai film industry (remember she hates calling it Bollywood) it’s more male dominated.” Her launch movie was also a Bengali movie Iti Srikanto while her debut Hindi flick Dil Mange More did ok business wise.

Of course before Soha signs on the dotted line, she turns to brother Saif for advice but the final decision is taken with “mom as she being both a woman and mom can think better for me,” she tells you. Soha is also upbeat about her role in Ahista Ahista with Abhey Deol.

Her recent movie Shadi No 1 failed at the box office. “Comedy is a wonderful but tough thing. It was a learning experience. All scripts can’t be like RBD which has a bold message ,”she tells you.

Earlier, a tea-lover Soha shared her health secrets with joggers, took a round of the lush-green park and had a cuppa with them.
