The Special Investigating Team (SIT) questioned former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh in connection with Sunanda Pushkar murder case. The team would also question Tharoor again soon.

Singh was called at the south district’s anti-auto theft squad (AATS) office in Vasant Kunj after a notice was served to him.

The Delhi police, it seems, are trying to ascertain if Pushkar’s death is connected to the 2010 IPL controversy. Singh was reportedly questioned about the IPL controversy surrounding Sunanda and Tharoor. Singh, in a TV interview, had recently claimed that Sunanda had spoken to him about the IPL scam a couple of days before her death.
He was questioned for two hours and asked about his friendship with Sunanda and the couple’s relationship before her death. Singh was also asked whether Sunanda had discussed anything about Tharoor’s alleged affair with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.

“Singh told us that Sunanda was depressed before her death. He claimed that the couple had a heated argument while they were dining together at Bukhara restaurant in south Delhi’s ITC Maurya Hotel. Tharoor then told Sunanda that he was going home but Sunanda refused to return home with him,” said a police source.

Speaking to the media about his questioning, Singh claimed that he co-operated with the SIT in their probe and answered all questions. He, however, refused to comment on the questions asked saying it would affect the police probe.

“Sunanda was a close friend and I just want the truth to come out and know who the actual killer is. It’s not right to publicise the couple’s disputes. Tharoor is also a good friend of mine but I don’t want to accuse anybody. Since police have registered a murder case, it is their responsibility to prove it,” said Singh.
