Amidst heart-rending scenes, six-year-old Satjya Teja, his son, lit the pyre.

The body was brought on Monday night from Delhi and was kept at his East Anandbagh Colony residence in Malkajgiri area.

Earlier, former Chief Minister and TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu visited the house of the slain engineer and placed a wreath. He also called on the family members and children of Suryanarayana.

Manjula, Suryanarayana's wife, was being treated at a hospital after she attempted suicide by consuming some pesticide on Monday.

Manjula took the extreme step after one Swapna, hailing from Warangal district, claimed that she was the second wife of Suryanarayana and had a nine-month-old baby.
