Shantiben Patel had stayed for 24 hours on May 8 at the airport in Singapore, one of the countries seriously affected by the epidemic, doctors attending her said over phone from the SSG Hospital.

She was on way to Vadodara from New Zealand, where she is believed to have stayed for nearly two years.

Patel complained of fever and bodyache and took initial treatment at a private hospital, where doctors suspected SARS and rushed her to SSG hospital late last night, the doctor added.

"We have conducted all the necessary tests and taken the required samples and sent them to National Institute of Virology at Pune", he said adding, "the report from NIV is expected after 72 hours".

At present, Patel is being administered `higher' doses of anti-biotics and anti-viral drugs, hospital sources added.

However, he would have to remain quarantined at his residence for atleast 10 days according to the WHO guidelines.
