To impart knowledge of blogging-related aspects, the Pune University’s Journalism department will hold a symposium on blogging, arguably the first of its kind.

To be held on in Pune on March 28, it will also lay emphasis on blogging legal issues that crop up while blogging.

The symposium will cover issues from starting a blog, its promotion, ethics and legal aspects that bloggers face. It will also touch upon the scope in the blogging field and issues regarding qualitative blogging.

“The symposium will be held in four sessions with each one dedicated to a special theme,” said Head of the Journalism department, Ujjwala Barve.

Keeping in mind recent instances of bloggers getting legal notices for ‘defamatory’ writings, the symposium will deal with issues like the implications of using freedom or excessive freedom while commenting against anybody.

Panelists at the symposium include senior journalist Pradyuman Maheshwari, cyber lawyer Vaishali Bhagwat, Marathi blogger Ravi Amale and presenter of award to best blogs Debashish Chakrabarty.
