With enough evidence to prove culpability of the 20 arrested in the spot-fixing and betting case, the Mumbai crime branch said it will soon file a charge sheet against Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI chief N Srinivasan and the team principal of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and the other key players.
It will, however, continue with its investigation till the case reaches its logical end.
While the agency is not likely to show any underworld links in the charge sheet that will be filed in the last week of August, it is not ruling out the possibility of adding a supplementary charge sheet.
Crime branch officials said they were on the lookout for key bookies, Badri, Chandresh Jain alias Jupiter, Labu alias Aggarwal amongst others.
The agency is also waiting to question Sanjay Chabbra and Pawan Chabbra, better known as Jaipur brothers, who were given interim relief by the high court. Their anticipatory bail plea is up for hearing on August 6.
Officials said it was necessary to interrogate the brothers to confirm Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf's involvement. Sources said that Rauf allegedly passed on pitch information, as well as positive and negative points of players from various teams.
