Special Judge (anti-corruption) Rekha Dixit deferred the matter after the counsel of one of the accused, former principal secretary (environment) RK Sharma moved an application seeking adjournment.

Sharma has filed an intervention application in the matter.

The Uttar Pradesh governor had earlier declined to accord sanction for prosecution of Chief Minister Mayawati and her cabinet colleague Naseemuddin Siddique in the case.

The court had observed on the previous date that in the absence of the sanction, it would have no jurisdiction either to take cognisance or proceed further in respect of Mayawati and Siddique.

Besides Sharma, the other accused in the Rs 175 crore Taj Heritage case are under secretary Rajendra Prasad and a former IAS officer VK Gupta.
