What is the present power scenario in the city ?

Power scenario has improved this year in the city in comparison to last years' when the power cuts had reached a worst state. Remarkably, 21-hour power supply is being given to the urban area excluding the local faults.

How have you brought improvement in the supply ?

In my one year's tenure as DGM here I have put my entire focus on minimising the local faults. Consequently, it has brought much relief to the citizens. In a situation when there is dearth of staff and infrastructure then it becomes impossible to attend to faults particularly during night hours. No appointment on any post in UPPCL has been made after 1978.

What is the progress report of Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (APDRP) scheme.

Undoubtedly, my priority is to implement the APDRP in the city. Nearly 83 per cent work of the scheme has been completed. the remaining would be completed by next month. Efficiency of several sub-stations have already been increased under the scheme. Six of the seven 33KV new sub-stations have been established at George Town, University Road, Indrapur, Karelabagh, Govindpur and Fort Road. For Ashok Nagar sub-station the land has been acquired recently and the work will start soon.

All permanent kind works related to mela would be completed by September this year. The state government has approved Rs 48 crore for the mela purpose.

Two new sub-stations in Jhusi and Naini will be established on permanent basis. Besides, 35 high masts would be installed in the mela and city areas.

Has UPPCL failed to achieve the revenue target ?

It's true. At present only 50 per cent of the target is being realised. However steps are being taken to rectify it
