After dominating the first three days, Tamil Nadu drove the final nail in Punjab’s coffin just before lunch to register victory by an innings and 45 runs in their Super League encounter. Resuming at 114/5 and trailing by 179 runs to avoid an innings defeat, Punjab were bowled out at the stroke of lunch, with their second innings score at 248. Courtesy their thumping win, TN earned six points, including a bonus.

The overnight pair of Pankaj Dharmani and Gaurav Gambhir added 50 runs, but Gambhir’s dismissal triggered a collapse. But Dharmani stood firm, scoring 56, his second half-century of the match.

The TN spinners looked impressive, with offie R. Ashwin picking up five wickets. Bowling a near-perfect line, Ashwin bothered the batsmen with his turners. Left-arm spinner Aushik Srinivas claimed three, while Suresh Kumar scalped two.

Punjab would love to forget this outing as they under performed in every department.
