Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd And GS Yuasa International (GYIN) of Japan on Monday formed a Joint Venture company, Tata AutoComp GY Batteries, to manufacture batteries for the automotive industry.

Tata AutoComp Systems (TACO), Tata groups' auto component goup, said the 50:50 JV with Asia's largest automotive battery manufacturer was a 50:50, will manufacture batteries for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and the retail market and would have its manufacturing facility near Pune.

"The Company will start its operation with the entire range of four-wheeler automotive batteries and will also set up a national level sales, service and distribution network," the company said in a statement.
