IN A joint action, Collector, DFO South range, DFO Naurahdehi and Superintendent of Police raided forest and revenue area and seized 450 teakwood trees worth Rs 15 lakhs. The Collector also suspended six patwaris of the area with immediate effect and the DFO had also suspended some lower staff.
According to Collector Shiv Shekhar Shukla, under the Deori development block in village Muderi and Singhpur there were reports that forest mafias were illegally cutting trees. Today in a joint action, Superintendent of police K P Khare, DFO Naurahdehi Archna Shukla and DFO South range raided these two villages and seized 450 trees of all kinds including teak and other species.
The Collector also said strict action would be taken against those patwaries posted for the past five years and claimed that forest mafias would be nabbed.
