A teenaged girl was found dead on Thursday in a pool of blood in her house at Baramas village near Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district, the police said.

Sukanti Toppo, who was alone in the house and was allegedly attacked by one Biju Tirkey (26), an uneducated youth of the same village whom police suspected to be her lover.
Inspector-in-charge of Biramitrapur police station, Om Prakash Patra, said Sukanti had received at least 10 stab injuries on her. She was rushed to the Biramitrapur hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Biju, the alleged killer also tried to end his life by stabbing himself twice in his stomach. He was rushed to the Rourkela government hospital in a critical condition.
The body was handed over to her family after post-mortem, police said.
