The boys, Rajesh, 16, son of Babu Ahirwar, and Mohit, 17, son of Anup Soni, both residents of Navjivan Colony (Qainchi Chhola), went for a swim but apparently misjudged the depth of the ditch. Both drowned. Their friends tried to rescue them but failed. They informed the police then.

The bodies were later recovered. The Piplani police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, an unidentified body was recovered from the Lower Lake on Sunday. Police said a passer-by, DP Tiwari, spotted the body in the lake near Kalighat Mandir.

The police recovered the body that appeared to have been in the water for a couple of days. There was no cloth on the body. The deceased had wheatish complexion. Efforts are on to identify him. The cause of death could be established only after post-mortem.
