Tanaaz Lal and Bhaktyaar Iraani are not getting married, on November 18, as was earlier planned. They have postponed their marriage “to early next year.”
Says Lal: “Earlier we had decided on November 18 because we were madly in love but our respective parents were against it. So we thought we will go ahead, whether they agree or not and so we even fixed the date. But then our parents met each other and respected our wishes.
Unfortunately I lost my father recently and since as is custom we can’t have a big ceremony for at least six months. My mother then said that we should have at least a small engagement ceremony on November 18 but just a few days ago she developed a cyst in her liver. So it didn’t seem right to prepare for our wedding while my mother was suffering so we postponed the wedding till everybody is in the right frame of mind.”
The fact that the couple is also being touted as this season’s winner is another reason. “Our families want us to win Nach Baliye, so with the wedding postponed, all our energies are now focused on the contest.” The couple performed to a “South Indian dance in the regional round” on Wednesday afternoon for the coming week’s gala performance.
Considering the amount of judges’ praise Shweta Kawaatra and Manav Gohil got for their classical dance act in last week’s round we think Tanaaz and Bhaktyaar too are hoping to impress the jury.
