The agitation was being conducted under the aegis of MP Asthayi Pradhyapak Sangh that has warned that if the Government does not come true to its assurances, the agitation would be restarted.

A meeting was held between representatives of the association and Higher and Technical Education Minister Tukoji Rao Pawar on Friday.

Although no assurance came on the main demand of the temporary teachers regarding regularisation and continuation of services on fixed remuneration till regularisation, the Minister assured the legal department will be consulted regarding extension of termination date from February 28 to April 30 – another major demand of the teachers.

The Government further gave assurance regarding smaller demands including adjustment following transfer, postings through offices of five additional directors, information regarding all vacant posts on Internet, posting right at beginning of academic session, payment of Rs 120 per period instead of Rs 100, provision of experience certificate and relaxation in age for public service commission exams.
