Bangladesh, who are yet to register a Test win since becoming a full member of the International Cricket Council in 2000, lost the opening match by an innings and 140 runs last week in Dhaka.

Tendulkar equaled compatriot Sunil Gavaskar's world record of 34 Test centuries in that match.

He needs just 157 more runs to become only the fifth batsman to reach the 10,000-run milestone, joining Australians Allan Border and Steve Waugh, Gavaskar and Brian Lara of the West Indies.

Also in the first match, Anil Kumble increased his career haul to 438 wickets to surpass compatriot Kapil Dev's previous Indian Test record of 434.

Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly told reporters that his team was likely to retain the side that won the first Test.
