Serial blasts in Jaipur have placed cross-border terrorism back on top of the India-Pakistan dialogue agenda, a top government official said on Wednesday. Originally, the visits to Pakistan next week by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon were intended to review the composite dialogue and see how the peace process could be carried forward with a new government in place in Islamabad.
However, Tuesday’s terrorist attack that killed over 60 people in Jaipur have replaced the spotlight squarely on terrorism.
“We have always said that absence of violence and stopping cross border terrorism is a very high priority for us. It is a necessary condition in many ways in what we are trying to achieve in the relationship with Pakistan,” Menon said.
