With Taliban showing signs of resurgence, Afghanistan on Saturday said trans-national terrorism needed to be attacked at its sources and favoured cooperation between New Delhi, Islamabad and Kabul to tackle the menace.
Visiting Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta said that terrorism could be curbed by finding its sources and attacking these instead of targeting "symptoms".
He said the "problem or weakness" with the war against terrorism had been that the sources of terrorism -- ideology, training and financial -- had not been recognised.
With change in strategy, it is expected there will be positive results, he said at an interaction here after delivering a lecture on 'Afghanistan: Foreign Policy, Regional Relations and Future Perspectives'.
Referring to Pakistan, he said efforts were underway to build confidence between the two countries.
He pointed out that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had promised to send 10,000 troops to the border with Afghanistan to check cross-frontier movement and said that such steps instill confidence.
Contending that "friendly and brotherly" Pakistan too was a victim of terrorism like India and Afghanistan, Spanta said the scourge could be fought better through cooperation among the three countries.
