In the petition filed before district and session Judge Vishnu Chand Gupta on Monday, Ullah said he is living in a solitary cell for the past two years.

The Judge has fixed July 2 as the date for hearing on the application and asked Jail Superintendent V K Singh and District Administration to file their replies on the issue.

In his application, Ullah said that another suspected terrorist Shakeel Ahmad committed suicide a fortnight ago because he was kept in a solitary cell. Ahmad was arrested for his involvement in a blast at Ghaziabad Railway station in 1997.

On that pretext, Ullah said he does not want to be mentally ill in the solitary cell.

Jail authorities said they will file a reply in the court on July 2 for the need to keep the suspected terrorist in the cell.
