The grenade, tossed at a ziarat in Balnoi area early on Wednesday, hit the shrine wall but failed to explode, the official told.

Security forces, alerted by passers-by, recovered the grenade from the spot and detonated it.

The shrine, which is visited by up to 200 people daily, was apparently targeted by terrorists to create trouble in the area.

Security has been beefed up in and around the shrine following the incident.
