A day after he declared he was not in favour of splitting Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued to be targeted by the Thackeray cousins. On Wednesday, he was attacked on the subject of the death of soldiers at the India-Pakistan border.
“Our soldiers are still being sent back in body bags. There is no difference between what happened during the Congress regime and the current government. Is this what you call ‘achche din’? said MNS cief Raj Thackeray, at a rally in Thane.
Thackeray was campaigning for four MNS candidates, Nilesh Chavan, Sudhakar Chavan, Sejal Kadam and Mahesh Salvi.
Earlier in the day, while addressing Sena rallies in Konkan, Sena president Uddhav Thackeray said, “Our soldiers and civilians are being attacked by the Pakistani Army at the border, but the prime minister is busy campaigning for the Assembly polls. He should be in Delhi taking charge of the situation rather than campaigning in Maharashtra.”
“During the Lok Sabha polls, we all helped the NDA come to power. Now, Modi should restrict himself to Delhi and leave Maharashtra to us,” Thackeray said, addressing a rally in Malvan.
Referring to Modi’s rally to be held in Konkan on October 13, Uddhav said he was confident of the support of the people of Konkan. “The people of Malvan are our family members and our relationship is based on trust,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}The Sena mouthpiece Saamana on Wednesday taunted Modi as well, by saying a 56-inch chest was not needed to teach a lesson to Pakistan and China. The comment was in connection with Modi’s remarks during rallies before Lok Sabha elections.
Meanwhile, Union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj criticised the Shiv Sena over its tirade against the prime minister.
Addressing a campaign rally, she said she was disappointed with the Sena because of the way it was hurling allegations at the prime minister and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
