No sibling rivalry in the Congress for now
News reports that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be campaigning for the Congress during the next Lok Sabha polls have been described as baseless by the party’s chief spokesperson Ajay Maken. The denial is logical since the party has been working overtime to project Rahul Gandhi as its future leader and if sister Priyanka is given equal weightage, the party vice-president may be compelled to play second fiddle. This is something the Congress president Sonia Gandhi would never allow. No bother for the brother.

It pays to be in politics
Haryana Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Singh who was tipped to join the Union Cabinet during the last reshuffle continues to express his unhappiness with the party. Some time ago, he had stated that Rajya Sabha seats were available for a price. Recently, he said that politics was the best business anyone could get into if one wants to make quick money. The party president is thinking of taking disciplinary action against him. Singh is apparently not worried since he would want to be expelled as this way he can retain his Rajya Sabha seat. Sitting pretty for the moment.

Left can’t get it right
A few days ago, CPI MP Gurudas Dasgupta shot off an angry letter to the prime minister against the US spying on India. His letter, however, accused space agency Nasa of spying instead of the National Security Agency (NSA). Another ‘gem’ from the trade unionist: ‘Navaratna’ greetings to all instead of Navratri wishes. Not very strong on facts.
