Sourav Ganguly might be rested for one game, possibly two, because he is now a certainty for the World Cup.

Now what kind of logic is that? Why should they even be thinking of resting Ganguly when he has made his one-day international comeback just two games ago?

Ask any player and they would tell you that if they're playing badly, they need to play as much as possible to get their form back. But if they’re playing well, then they want to play as much as possible to keep that form on.

Ganguly has been in the midst of a purple patch since his amazing comeback to top-level cricket. So, wouldn’t he want to continue that run? Plus, he hasn’t played enough since he came back, to be exhausted and need a break.

Equally logically, if someone has to be rested, then shouldn’t the best person to be rested be Rahul Dravid?
