We all know that a journey is more enjoyable when the baggage is light. Yet during our journey of life we collect so much of junk of Vasnas and desires that the journey becomes a burden and we get so worked up in the baggage that we stop to enjoy it. We may shed some burden but on the way collect a lot more. We keep on wasting so much time and energy fulfilling those desires that we lose the sight of the purpose for which we got the human birth. There have been numerable examples where man has lightened this burden to an extent that he really enjoys life in the true sense since it becomes beneficial to society.
One such man is Mr. Warren Buffet, the second or third richest man in the world. He lives in a small 3-bed room house, drives his own car, never travels by private jet, no cell phone and computer, wears what is comfortable but not branded, has donated over 31 billion dollars to charity without making a show of it. What a joyful life he must be having. His motto is that the happiest people do not have the best things but appreciate the things they have. The people are rich by not what they have but by what they can do without.
During the journey of life we have company of people who may share the burden of desires. But ironically, we have to undertake the last journey alone without anyone accompanying you. You are on your own. You may be a brother, father, husband or friend to some but as soon as you leave the body, it is a dead body which people want to get rid as soon as possible.
With no load of desires, you feel free from attachments and the journey into the new world will be a pleasant experience. The luggage one carries during the last part of journey is the bundle of unfulfilled desires. The reduction in this load needs a walk on the spiritual path, company of saintly people, faith in God and ultimately total surrender to Him.
