The run-up to the wedding isn’t all about trousseau shopping. New-age grooms and brides are also busy picking handcuffs, whips and leather gear. In a bid to experiment, soon-to-be-married couples in the Capital are investing in sex toys. And online sex stores are what they are turning to.

Says Abhimanyu Mehta, 27, a IT professional, “My fiancee and I discussed sexual fantasies during our courtship period. I could never bring myself to visiting a sex toy store, so I bought a BDSM (Bondage Sado Machismo) set from an online sex toys site for our honeymoon.” BPO executive Sarthak Choudhary bought a few toys from a stripper at his bachelor’s party. “The stripper who performed at the bachelor’s bash sexed up the act by using toys. I bought some from her for honeymoon,” he says.

Items such as vibrating love rings, that are available at select pharmacies in the Capital, are also finding customers in young couples. “We sell at least 10 rings a week,” confesses a Defence Colony chemist on condition of anonymity. The owner of a video parlour in Palika Bazaar, who also deals in sex toys, says, “Couples pick up handcuffs, vibrators and whips from us.”
