The Obama visit's coming out of our ears, thanks to the media
The Indian media were suffering from 'Obamania' during the visit. Both the print and electronic media reported each and every moment of the India visit of President Obama and his wife Michelle.
As a result, the world now knows everything from the dishes that were served to the couple at the presidential banquet to the price of the hotel suite where they stayed. This 'information overload' might have appealed to a small section of society, but the truth is that many aspects of the Obama visit did not merit media attention.

We appreciate Obama for slamming Pakistan for not taking action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack. But Obama should practise what he preaches and extradite David Headley, one of the key accused in 26/11 attacks, to India.

Do justice to the profession
The Bar Council of India's (BCI) decision to make it mandatory for law graduates to pass a written test to be eligible to practise law shouldn't be opposed. It's the first step towards reforming the judiciary, which is the need of the hour. Today, the number of practising lawyers in India exceeds the number of litigants.
The proposed test will go a long way towards giving India honest and qualified lawyers. The BCI should also keep a tab on the number of private law colleges across the nation today and should revise the law course syllabus.

Who is the Congress trying to fool by accepting Suresh Kalmadi's resignation and sacking Ashok Chavan? Can it assure the common man that it will also recover the taxpayers' money from both the accused and that no Congress member will be involved in such malpractices in the future?
