It’s time for a second honeymoon for Prince Charles and Camilla. And guess what the Prince of Wales has lined up for his Duchess? A two-week tour of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and India, beginning March 20. All three countries are important partners for the UK and it is hoped that the visits will boost relationships further.

The royal couple will be in India between March 26 and 31. Charles has been to India on and off (his last visit was in 2003) — meeting Delhi’s young entrepreneurs or Mumbai’s dabbawallas or exploring the colourful nooks of Rajasthan. The last time he was here as a twosome — with Diana — was in July 1992. Interestingly, the separation of the couple was announced only months following that visit.

Apart from the regulation do at the British High Commission, the official announcement states that the couple is expected to visit Punjab and Rajasthan, “where the Prince of Wales and the British Indian community have been taking forward a range of charitable initiatives”.

This happens to be Camilla’s second royal visit, the first one being a US trip last November.
