It has been around for years, much before Gurgaon became the dream destination, and the tony housing estates in the neighbourhood began to dominate the skyline, serving Betty Crocker-style lasagne and pastas much before Delhiites discovered Italian fine food. Don't confuse The Village Shop, located opposite Aya Nagar, with The Village Shoppe, reviewed below. Kenny Purewal, proprietor of The Village Shop, had shut shop in between, only to reopen in the present location. "We're the original shop," she says, as she goes about overseeing the kitchen. You can pick up freshly baked cakes and tarts
and breads, or grab a bite. The restaurant also caters for small parties.
