DR ACHLA Nagar, daughter of famous litterateur Amrit Lal Nagar, says that it’s a misconception that women are inferior to men.

“A woman can do everything that a man can but no man can give birth to a life like a woman does. Also, inwardly, a man is weak while a woman can cope with virtually anything,” she says. Dr Nagar, who is well known for her story and dialogues in films like Nikaah, Aakhir Kyon among others, is in the city to receive the women achievers’ award.
Currently Babul (she has written the story, script and screenplay) is all set for release. “The characters of the story are the same as in Baghbaan. This film would also deal with a social issue,” she says. Ask her why most of her films revolve round social issues and she says, “Because there is so much of pain all around us. Babuji told me that just as there is three parts water all around us, similarly there is pain.
So, I just write what I see and feel.” Has she ever given a thought to making a film based on the works of her illustrious father? “No. That’s because a good piece of literature can never make a good film. A litterateur merely touches on certain characters while a filmmaker has to deal with every character in a more broader sense to make the story catchy.”
