Thanks to a nexus between private bus operators and government bus employees, the city transport department is losing out on their share of money.
Commuters have alleged that many a times, drivers do not stop the bus at the designated stop so as to help private operators get more passengers.
They say it's a conspiracy of private transport operators who pay the drivers and conductors of government buses to rake in more moolah.
They allege that bus drivers have also been asked to lower the frequency of bus service on their respective routes.
Though the frequency of these buses should be 10-15 minutes, some of the drivers’ deliberately drive slow which increases the frequency to 30-40 minutes.
“I have noticed that whenever any passenger waves his hand to stop a bus, the driver ignore him and drives away deliberately. Then, passengers have no option but to board the white mini-buses (private buses)," claimed Rohit Sharma, a local.
As the per the transport department guidelines, a bus driver should stop at all the designated stops.
“These drivers often make excuses that they cannot stop the bus due to huge traffic jam. If they do not pick up passengers, then what is the benefit to run this bus service,” an aggrieved Rohit asked.

{{/usCountry}}“Earlier, the same practice was followed in Delhi by Blueline bus operators. A similar story seems to be repeated here in Gurgaon,” he added.
When contacted by HT, a senior transport department official said he had no information about matter.
“But if someone is found guilty, a strict action will be taken against him/her,” he said.
The city has over 100 Haryana Roadways buses which include AC and non-AC buses.
