FOUR INCIDENTS of theft, including one at a house where the family had gone out for just a few hours, occurred in the City on Tuesday.
Proving what a good intelligence network they have, thieves targeted a house in broad daylight during the time the owners were away for a few hours.
According to sources, Harish Vyas, a resident of Telephone Nagar working in Gujarat Ambuja Cement, was recently posted to Akola in Maharashtra. Thieves apparently kept watch on the movements in his house and they assumed that there would be cash and other valuables in the house.
On Tuesday, when Vyas was in town, the family went for an outing leaving the house vacant.
The thieves struck during this time and decamped with a music system, TV, suitcase full of clothes, jewellery and other items worth Rs 80,000.
Vyas returned home at around 4.30 pm and found the house ransacked. He informed the police, who have registered a case and are looking for unidentified thieves.
In another incident at the house of Shabbir Hussein at 171 Mamta Colony, Khajrana, thieves broke open the latch on the door to enter the house. They then ransacked the house and decamped with Rs 4,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs 25,000. Khajrana police have registered a case.
In the third incident, thieves broke into the house of Lalit Chaudhary at Raj Nagar and decamped with a TV, cycle and other goods, the value of which could not be estimated immediately. Chandan Nagar police have registered a case. In the fourth incident, thieves struck at the house of Shakuntla Gurjar at 29, Bhamori.

{{/usCountry}}The thieves managed to steal Rs 5000 in cash, jewellery, utensils, clothes, gas cylinder and other articles, the total cost of which came to about Rs 50,000. Hira Nagar police have registered a case and begun investigations.
The incidents of theft have continued unabated despite the whole police department being on its toes after receiving flak from all quarters for being unable to contain such incidents.
Apart from senior level police officials, more than 25 policemen of the crime squad and a similar number from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have started night patrolling.
