Thilina Kandamby

A middle order batsman, Thilina Kandamby took his place in the Lanka national team after some impressive innings for Sri Lanka A team during tours to India and New Zealand in 2004. He edged out more established players and got himself a berth for the first time during Sri Lanka's tour to Zimbabwe in 2004.

A technically sound batsman his game is well suited for the one-day format. Playing for his school Ananda College first XI from 1994 to 2000 and represented the Sri Lanka Under-19 team during various tours from 1998 to 2001. However, he failed to graduate into the A team until 2003 after a difficult start to his first-class career.

Interestingly, Kandamby was keen on tennis as a career option and was also ranked in the national top ten.
