An earthquake of slight intensity rocked Shillong and its surrounding areas early on Saturday.

According to the MET department, the quake, measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale, was felt at around 3:17 am. Its epicentre was located 20 km away from the Central Seismological Observatory Shillong.

This was the third tremor in the current week, sources said.
The last tremor having a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale was recorded on December 9. That was preceded by one measuring 3.6 on the scale on December 7.
