Cracks appeared in the unity of agitating Air India pilots with three of them reporting back to duty on Wednesday — the 10th day of the strike.

As AI re-started skeletal services to Europe and US, sources said they expected more pilots back by the weekend. “A pilot who doesn’t report for work for 14 days citing ill health needs a clearance from the air force hospital. Those feigning illness have little time on hand,” an AI official said.

The agitating pilots said the three weren’t part of their union. But AI said they were neither management pilots, nor expats, nor on contract.
