The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have solved a case of grenade blast in Northern town of Kupwara in which three pedestrians were injured in November 2011.
A police spokesman said that they have arrested three over-ground workers of militants, two of them from Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and another belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), all residents of Lolab valley.
“Police has solved a militancy case pertaining to a grenade attack on a (security forces) bunker at the General Bus Stand, Kupwara on November 1, 2011 by arresting the kingpin of the assailants Javid Ahmad Shah,” the spokesman said.
He added that Shah was a resident of Shortmuqam Lolab and was an affiliate of HM.
“During sustained questioning, the subject confessed his involvement in the case which also led police to uncover the involvement of two more assailants namely Mohammad Abdullah Bhat (JeM) and Nawaz Ahmad Shah (HM), who were also arrested in the instant case,” the officer said.
The spokesman informed that the incident had resulted in injuries to three pedestrians.
