Three-day cultural fest at Bhojpur from today

THE STATE Department of Culture is organising `Bhojpur Utsav? a three-day cultural festival on the premises of the Bhojpur Temple Complex from June 7 to 9. A number of classical, semi-classical, devotional and folk songs and dance performances by eminent artists will be the highlight of the festival, being revived after almost a decade and a half.

THE STATE Department of Culture is organising `Bhojpur Utsav’ a three-day cultural festival on the premises of the Bhojpur Temple Complex from June 7 to 9. A number of classical, semi-classical, devotional and folk songs and dance performances by eminent artists will be the highlight of the festival, being revived after almost a decade and a half.

The festival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at 7.30 pm on June 7 and the programme will be presided over by former Chief Minister Sunderlal Patwa who had originally envisaged the festival in 1991.

After the inauguration on June 7, Shiv Stuti and Thumree will be presented by eminent artiste Anuradha Thakur. A programme of devotional songs by eminent music director Ravindra Jain and his troupe will follow this.

On the second day – June 8, the programmes will begin at 8.00 pm with a classical vocal rendition by Pandit Channulal Mishra of Varanasi. This will be followed by Kathak performance by Shikha Khare and her troupe. On  June 9,  Kathak danseuse Anuradha Singh will perform Nataraj-Natwari dance at 8.00 pm.

 

 

On this day, folk dances will also be presented – including Bihu of Assam, Banjara, Ghumar, Bhavai and Kalbelia of Rajasthan, Mayur, Holi and Charkhula from UP.
