Three people were killed and about 15 others received burn injuries when a fire broke out in the Bangara Purwa village in Hardoi on Friday night, a senior official said on Saturday.

About 100 huts were gutted and property worth lakhs of rupees reduced to ashes in the fire, which spread rapidly due to a strong wind and dust storm, District Magistrate K Rammohan Rao said.
Some cattle also perished in the fire, he said adding, compensation was being provided to those affected.
