Three killed, 40 hurt in West Bengal bus mishap

The mishap occured as the bus driver failed to notice a speed breaker and the vehicle hit a tree at around 7.15 am.

Three persons were killed and 40 others injured when a bus hit a tree at Paninala on the Karimpur-Krishnanagar Road in Nadia district on Saturday, police said.

The mishap occurred as the bus driver failed to notice a speed breaker and the vehicle hit a tree at around 7.15 am, police said.

The injured were taken to Shaktinagar Hospital and several of them were in critical condition, the sources said.

Some of the injured passengers alleged the accident was caused owing to reckless driving as the driver tried to overtake another Krishnanagar-bound bus.
