Three killed in Krishnanagar shoot-out

THREE persons, including a rickshaw-puller, were killed in a sensational broad daylight shoot-out in which semi-automatic pistols were used, near the busy Bara Birwa crossing in Krishnanagar on Friday.

THREE persons, including a rickshaw-puller, were killed in a sensational broad daylight shoot-out in which semi-automatic pistols were used, near the busy Bara Birwa crossing in Krishnanagar on Friday.

Those killed included the brother-in-law of a contractor and the latter’s aide.
The two assailants fled the scene leaving their motorcycle behind.

The victims were in a Scorpio (UP 32 AZ-5500), which was intercepted by two motorcycle borne youths. As the driver of the Scorpio stepped down, the youths whipped out pistols and opened indiscriminate fire aiming the driver. The assailants peppered the driver and another occupant in the vehicle with bullets.

A stray bullet hit a rickshaw-puller standing close to the vehicle. While the driver, who had suffered three bullets on his head and chest and the rickshaw-puller died on the spot.

The assailants tried to run but could not start their vehicle. They left it at the spot and ran away towards Ashiana Road.

The shootout caused panic in and around the area throwing traffic out of gear for about half-an-hour. Later, the victims were taken to the nearby Lal Hospital by one of their acquaintances Moolchand.

The police came to know about the incident after half an hour. The person driving the Scorpio was identified as Suresh Yadav (37) of Hanskhera locality, Talkatora, and the other one was Sushil Kumar Yadav of Malihabad. The rickshaw-puller was yet to be identified.

SSP GK Goswami said Suresh was close confidante of a leading contractor of LDA Thakur Prasad Yadav and Sushil was Thakur Prasad’s brother-in-law.
