Three Maoists surrendered before the administration in Rayagada on Monday, expressing desire to return to the mainstream, police said.

The trio, hailing from Gudari area of Rayagada district, surrendered as they were disillusioned with Naxal activities and realised that they had been misguided, Deputy Inspector General of Police (South-West) Sanjeeb Panda said.

Trinath Srambutika (25), J Prakash Kimbaka (25) and Krishna Gudkaka (28) were tribals and had indulged in extremist activities in different parts of Rayagada, he said.
Their surrender came barely a month after hardcore Maoist Aakash laid down his arms on June 8.
