The incident took place when armed Maoist guerrillas attacked Khaira village of Lakhisarai district late on Monday night.

"Three people were killed by Maoist guerrillas. The attack was in retaliation to the killing of a Maoist rebel by the villagers," Additional Director General (police headquarters) Neelmani said.

Maoist Ravidas was beaten to death by villagers on Holi last week.
